Ayokunmi Aluko, PMHNP-BC
Ayokunmi Aluko is a psychiatric nurse practitioner at Mindful Care. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from George Mason University and a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Psychiatric-Mental Health Track from Walden University.
In her practice, she believes the most important part of patient care is "identifying and meeting each individual's unique needs, and providing holistic care. This world currently has 7.9 billion people, and no two people have the same needs. The same applies to mental health needs. I am a warm and compassionate provider who has experience treating various mental health needs, using evidence-based guidelines, in an empathetic and non-judgmental manner."
What is the most inspiring part of your career?
The most inspiring parts of my career are guiding and helping each patient take an active role in treatment, and seeing the positive outcomes and improvements that follow.
Why did you choose to specialize/work in mental healthcare?
I chose to specialize in mental healthcare because while mental health needs are not always visible on the surface, mental health and wellness are just as vital as physical health. I enjoy helping each person begin/maintain the road to recovery, and I aim to empower each patient to maximize wellness and achieve the best quality of life.
What are your interests outside of work?
I enjoy traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time at the beach.
