What is the most inspiring part of your career?
Being able to Make a difference in the lives of my patients and the communities in which they reside, in hopes this will inspire them to do the same.
Why did you choose to specialize/work in mental healthcare?
Through schooling, I found a keen interest in learning about Psychiatry and fascination with the functions of the brain, the operating system of the body. While in clinical rotations, applying what I learned and seeing the vast improvements in patients, strengthened my bond with this particular field of medicine and patient population.
What are your interests outside of work?
Family is the most important part of my life but I am an avid traveler and will take any chance I get to visit any part of the world - with recently visiting Cartagena, Colombia and it was an excellent cultural experience - salsa music and dancing, street food like arepas, friendly people, and a very fun culture. If I’m not with family or traveling, I will be out on the water on Lake Michigan or hiking new areas.
What’s the last book you read?
I read educational journals and articles but outside of educational reading, in my spare time, I’m an active person always outdoors or partaking in activities.
