From Darkness to Light: Mindful Care's Therapy Group is Illuminating Hope

Mental health issues have never received the attention and support they need. This is where Mindful Care is closing the gap, making treatments affordable and accessible to all.

Mental health issues have never received the attention and support they need. To make the situation worse, the high cost of treatment and insufficient insurance coverage limit mental health therapies to a small portion of the population. This is where Mindful Care is closing the gap, making treatments affordable and accessible to all. Founded by Dr. Tamir Aldad in 2018, Mindful Care has emerged as a revolutionary force in the realm of mental health, breaking barriers to ensure everyone can have access to any kind of psychiatric service.

Dr. Aldad, the visionary mind behind Mindful Care, is a seasoned psychiatrist with an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is a former research fellow at Yale School of Medicine. Since he began working as a psychiatrist, Dr. Aldad harbored a deep-rooted goal for the future of mental healthcare. He felt miserable as several patients died by suicide while waiting for an appointment. Recognizing the urgency for timely care, Dr. Aldad pioneered the concept of psychiatric urgent care, offering same-day in-network medication management, therapy, and substance use counseling through Mindful Care.

Currently providing its services to over 25,000 patients, Mindful Care is licensed in 14 states with brick-and-mortar offices in 6 states. Mindful Care services are now available in-person in New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Florida, Connecticut, and Illinois. For Dr. Aldad, the goal is to transcend physical boundaries and expand nationwide to make mental health care more accessible to all. This goal stemmed from the desire to prevent the alarming spike in relapses exacerbated by global turmoil.

One of the remarkable initiatives by Mindful Care is its recently created therapy group, "From Darkness to Light." As unsettling world events are gripping the headlines, causing a surge in mental health challenges, this free support group is emerging as a virtual lifeline. Offering a 6-week program, this group has turned into a haven for those grappling with the profound impact of current events.

"From Darkness to Light" is not just a mental health support group, but a way to receive healing therapies without leaving your home. Group sessions, led by licensed clinicians, have become a space for sharing experiences, reflecting on emotions, and learning healthy coping skills. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as the primary clinical approach empowers participants to challenge and change unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors.

Despite its humble initiative to advocate and support mental health, Mindful Care had to overcome a series of challenges to achieve its present position. The demand for care is staggering among middle-class individuals with medium coverage insurance. To respond to this soaring need for mental health services, Mindful Care developed an innovative approach of same-day/next-day psychiatric care, individual therapy, MicroTherapy sessions, and substance use counseling. This has helped the company offer dedicated care to clients while securing its position as a leader in this space.

As Mindful Care continues to grow, it is striving to make a profound impact in the realm of mental health services. In the next 4-5 years, the company aims to offer same-day/next-day services nationwide, preventing hospitalizations, improving clinical outcomes, and reducing the overall cost of mental health care in the US. "From Darkness to Light" is a valuable initiative inching toward this goal, making psychiatric care accessible virtually. With a keen focus on innovation and commitment to helping people live better lives, Mindful Care is illuminating the path towards accessible, affordable, and compassionate mental health care.
